Description
Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden is the flagship of the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) and was left to the nation when Cecil John Rhodes died in 1902. It was established as a botanical garden in 1913 and it is the largest of the country’s nine botanical gardens covering 528 hectares, which includes 36 hectares of developed garden with a network of wonderful walkways. The Constantia Valley is home to the oldest wine estate in South Africa and is a wonderful region to explore, with its combination of first world experiences mixed with old world charm. The grand old lady of the Cape, “Groot Constantia Wine Estate”, is just one of the many attractions that make for a thoroughly absorbing and enjoyable day tour.
