Description
Cape Town is the oldest City in South Africa, founded in 1652 by the Dutch as a half-way station to supply fresh produce to ships of the Dutch East India Company. With the establishment of the Company Gardens the settlement rapidly grew into a Town and then a colony that was known as the Tavern of The Seas. Although Cape Town’s history is relatively short in comparison to cities in Europe, it has a history which is most colourful with many cultural influences evident in its overall makeup, which truly makes it The Mother City of South Africa. This Tour is mostly a walking experience which takes you on a guided adventure through the City, visiting historical sites as well as fascinating museums along the route. It also allows you to experience the vibrant City life which is the real deal. You will experience such historical attractions as the Castle of Good Hope, the Slave Lodge which was home to no less than 9000 slaves at the peak of the slave trade, the Company Gardens, the Houses of Parliament, flower sellers at Trafalgar Place and Bo-Kaap which is still home to the descendants of freed slaves. These are amongst the many attractions that you will encounter on the day.
