This holiday package is an exclusive experience which combines all of Cape Towns world famous local attractions along with an overland road trip through one of South Africa’s most popular regions, the Garden Route. Although the itinerary might appear to be busy it is in fact quite leisurely in practice, you will have plenty of time to savour the extraordinary surroundings that you will find yourself. Starting in Cape Town and then moving up the coast to Port Elizabeth you will see interesting new landscape every day, without retracing your route. This tour can be tailored as a return trip to Cape Town.
9 DAY CAPE TOWN & GARDEN ROUTE ITINERARY
Day 1
CAPE TOWN
Our staff will receive you at Cape Town International Airport. We will then do a City Tour which also serves as an introduction to the Mother City, pointing out Historical Landmarks, shopping hot spots and recommended restaurants. On arrival at your hotel we will go over the itinerary confirming pick up times and any personal requests.

Day 2
CAPE TOWN | TABLE MOUNTAIN & ROBBEN ISLAND
We incorporate two of Cape Town’s most iconic landmarks in a Full Day experience that will be both spectacular and also emotional! When you visit the cell that Nelson Mandela lived in for 18 years of his 27 year incarceration, tears have been known to flow. The day is divided into two parts, Table Mountain in the morning and then Robben Island in the afternoon. Weather can always be an issue in Cape Town, normally the conditions are more favorable for the mountain in the morning! Lunch will be at the V & A Waterfront before you depart for the island.

Day 3
CAPE TOWN | CAPE POINT & PENINSULA
A Full day spent traveling around the Cape Peninsula with all its fabulous history and attractions. You will visit Hout Bay Harbour with its open air craft market, Chapman’s Peak Drive and Simon’s Town. Meeting the African Penguins at Boulders Beach is also something special. After lunch we arrive at Cape Point where you can enjoy some lovely short hikes. The most popular trail is from Cape Point to the Cape of Good Hope which is the most South Westerly tip of Africa! Other highlights are Baboons, coastal towns, Mountain Passes and much more. After our day on the Cape Peninsula we travel into the Winelands where you will overnight.

Day 4
CAPE WINELANDS | SWELLENDAM
No trip to Cape Town is complete without a visit to the wine country with its vast and verdant beauty, historical wine estates and towns. On this day we will sample wines in the Stellenbosch Valley as well as the Somerset West region. Some of the wine farms that we recommend are Vergenoegd, Ernie Els Wines, Rustenberg and Lourensford Wine Estate all of which produce top quality wine. You will have the opportunity to purchases wines that you can enjoy during the overland part of your Garden Route adventure. After a Full day of wine tasting and lots of other interesting things we arrive at the town of Swellendam.

Day 5
SWELLENDAM | OUDTSHOORN
Waking up at a country estate you have the choice of a morning walk through the grounds before enjoying a leisurely breakfast. On this day we make our way inland to the karoo town of Oudtshoorn famous for the Cango Caves and Ostrich farms. Lunch will be along the route at the town of Barrydale before we arrive in Oudtshoorn in the afternoon. After checking in a another fabulous overnight location you are free to relax before dinner.

Day 6
OUDTSHOORN | KNYSNA
The day starts with a visit to Cango Ostrich Farm where you will have a chance to learn more about these fascinating birds, you will get a chance to touch them and to even ride one if you feel like it. After your encounter with the Ostriches we have a light lunch at the farm. We then head for Cango Caves and a guided trip into this natural wonder. With the caving experience there is a choice to do the adventure route which is a little more technical and longer. After this we leave the Karoo region heading over the Outeniqua Mountains to Knysna and the start of the coastal Garden Route.

Day 7
KNYSNA | TSITSIKAMMA FOREST
The day begins with breakfast followed by a trip to the famous Knysna Heads, and the entrance to the Lagoon. We will then explore Knysna and the surrounding area before we continue with the road trip through the Garden Route. Highlights of the day is a visit to Monkey Land and Birds of Eden which is the world’s largest enclosed aviary. We also visit the Crags with its selection factory shops which offer quality items at really good prices. After these attractions we continue across the border into the Eastern Cape. Our destination is the Tsitsikamma Forest and Storms River.

Day 8
STORMS RIVER | TSITSIKAMMA FOREST
One this day there are a full list of exciting options to experience, the world’s highest Bungy Bridge Jump, The Canopy Tour which is zip-lining through the tree tops and a visit to Storms River Mouth where you can enjoy a hike to the suspension bridge. All these exciting activities are but a short drive from the Village. All three of these activities are highly recommended, with the Bungy jump being the most mentally challenging of them all. After a full and exciting day we return to the Village Hotel for sun-downers and later dinner.

Day 9
STORMS RIVER | JEFFERY’S BAY | PORT ELIZABETH
This will be your last morning in the Tsitsikamma and if there are any last minute things that you might like to try in the area then you have the morning to do so! We depart Storms River mid-morning for our trip to Port Elizabeth. On the way we will stop at Jeffery’s Bay which is one of the world’s best surfing spots and hosts a number of surfing events which attracts the biggest names in the sport. Jeffery’s Bay is regarded as having the perfect surfing wave! After this we continue to Port Elizabeth where you will depart for Johannesburg.
