This tour takes you away from the Mother City for two days where you will spend time at the seaside town of Hermanus which is famous for viewing Southern Right Whales. Hermanus is one of South Africa’s best loved seaside towns and it has many interesting attractions. Shopping is great and you will really enjoy the ambiance of this coastal gem which is a firm favorite for us locals! Another good choice especially during August to October which is peak season for the whales!
2 DAY HERMANUS & WHALE ROUTE ITINERARY
Day 1
WHALE ROUTE COASTAL TOUR
Depart Cape Town early morning and head towards the seaside town of Hermanus taking one of the most beautiful coastal drives in South Africa. Travelling along the waters edge for much of the way you will have a chance of sighting a variety of marine life including Whales, Dolphins, Cape fur Seals and Penguins! Along the route we visit a fascinating Penguin Colony at Stoney Point and then Harold Porter Botanical Garden, where you can enjoy a coffee! When we arrive in Hermanus your guide will give you an orientation tour before checking into your hotel. Your afternoon is spent exploring this unique Coastal Town with its many attractions. Dinner is at a recommended restaurant within easy walking distance from the hotel.

Day 2
BOAT BASED WHALE WATCHING
After breakfast you are collected by your guide and taken to the new harbour. You will board a vessel that will sail into Walker Bay to locate and to view Southern Right Whales in their natural environment. On this trip you will literally come to within meters of these magnificent giants of the ocean, it is truly a memorable experience. After your Boat Based Whale encounter we explore and enjoy a variety of wine farms in the Hemel en Aarde Valley and we will taste the wines that are produced in this unique coastal region. A light lunch will be enjoyed at one of the wine farms on the day. Towards late afternoon we depart for Cape Town taking a route which travels through the apple orchards and over a spectacular mountain pass arriving at Cape Town in the early evening.
