Day Hiking in Cape Town

Orange-breasted Sunbird

An amazing way to spend a day in CAPE TOWN is to join us on a trail hiking adventure to the top of Table Mountain, or any one of our selected mountain hikes that we offer around the Cape Peninsula. Our guides are part mountain goat and will show you sights and places that you would normally need cloven hooves to find, let alone enjoy.

To spend a day hiking in the TABLE MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK is a most exhilarating experience, and strangely, not often included on the average visitors list of things to do.

We will meet you at your hotel and take you to the start of the selected hiking trail. At the start your guide will give you an informal briefing about the mountain (the do’s and don’ts) and then you are off!

You will enjoy a light picnic lunch at one of the many beautiful spots along the trail. We supply a comfortable back pack (returnable after the trail) that contains water, picnic lunch and basic safety equipment

There are very few experiences to equal a day trail walking on Table Mountain.

“There is probably no more spectacular place in the world than CAPE TOWN and Table Mountain at the tip of Africa”

(Sir Edmund Hillary 1994)

Table Mountain Hiking Trail

Experience the sense of achievement by hiking to the top of TABLE MOUNTAIN under your own steam. Anyone can hop into the cable car and shoot to the top in 4 minutes, however, much of the thrill and beauty is lost by doing it this way.

Our TABLE MOUNTAIN HIKING TRAIL starts at CONSTANTIA NEK and ascends towards the back of Table Mountain. The path follows part of the Hoerikwaggo trail before branching off towards Nursery Ravine and Skeleton Gorge. This part of the mountain is particularly beautiful with mountain streams and plenty of shade.

We then follow Smut’s track to Maclear’s beacon (1086m) and the highest point on the Table Mountain range. From Maclear’s Beacon it is a fairly easy walk to the upper cable station.

The trail is done at a lea surly pace and there are plenty of stops for viewing and resting. You will enjoy your lunch along the trail, normally between Nursery Ravine and Skeleton Gorge.

NOTE: Minimum 3 people

Sivermine Circular Hiking Trail

This hiking trail is really special. Starting at the Silvermine Dam in the Silvermine Nature Reserve, which is part of the TABLE MOUNTAIN range, we follow a circular trail that takes us to the edge of the Noordhoek Mountains with many unique views over the Atlantic Ocean, Chapman’s Peak and Hout Bay. The trail includes the Elephants Eye Cave with more spectacular views over the Cape Flats and beyond.

This hiking trail has much to offer and can be enjoyed by visitors who are moderately fit. The trail ends back at the dam where we will treat you to a traditional Braaivleis (Barbaque, South African style).

False Bay Scenic Walk, Cape Point

This beautiful hike with wonderful views of Cape Point and False Bay is one of Cape Town’s most well kept secrets. In season you look down on Southern Right Whales as though they were fish in a pond. The seascapes are truly amazing with sweeping views across the bay all the way to Cape Hangklip and the Hottentots Holland Mountains.

At the end of the hike we enjoy a picnic lunch at one of the tidal pools with safe swimming. After the picnic lunch we take you to Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope for some more wonderful sightseeing. This is at truly exceptional day hike & touring experience rolled into one.
